Social Communication for People Empowerment (SCOPE) - India
Based in India, Social Communication for People Empowerment (SCOPE) is a non-profit movement committed to community development and social action through social communication. Its mission is to strengthen the voices of the voiceless by creating what these people define as systems that support meaningful living, institutions, and practices that are pluralistic, sustainable, just, collaborative, and liberating.
Communication Strategies
SCOPE engages in the following activities:
Justice, Participation.
- Creating space to enable concerned individuals and organisations to come together for the building of their own process of development
- Conducting workshops on media education for students, educators, parents, and community leaders who are trying to rediscover their creativity
- Developing a loose network of individuals and institutions worldwide that are interested in transforming "the existing model of development", which SCOPE describes as "dehumanising and destructive"
- Implementing and documenting projects: SCOPE analyses, synthesises, and contextualises research about development - to the end of exploring, rediscovering, and regenerating "the diverse model of development"
- Publishing a printed bulletin to share information, vision, and practical resources on SCOPE's alternative model of development as a vehicle for discussion, sharing of experience, and building awareness
- Providing advisory services to organisations and projects through research work, seminars, and workshops that reflect new thinking and research and that creatively apply these features to transform policies and activities.
Justice, Participation.
